Starting out in music can be a daunting task. As a music beginner you might have a little experience in music or no experience at all in music. One of the biggest challenges can be figuring out how you want to learn music. With the internet there are many ways and options for the music beginner. I am an artist and a producer and even I have found lessons in music online that have helped me out. I'm going to share with you a few options you have as a music beginner in the areas of music software production, learning guitar, and piano by taking beginners lessons online.

First let's start out with music software editing for the music beginner. I have been an artist since I was in middle school but I didn't start getting into music software production till recently. I went online to see if I could find any kind of resource that would help me in music production and I found many music beginner courses. So many in fact it took me a while to find the right one. You can get quality lessons in music production that take you through the process of creating music step by step. Sometimes you can find free lessons to get a feel for the product that is being offered. I found just such a thing when I was looking for beginner guitar lessons.

My main instrument currently is piano, but I've been trying to find guitar lessons for the acoustic and solo guitar lessons. Now I'm not saying these online music beginners lessons are better than having a personal music teacher. Know Your Laptop Battery

When given this question to any laptop or notebook computer user, they will get puzzled. This happens to me once when someone ask me about my laptop battery. As you can see, before you replace your laptop battery it is quite important to know a bit on the back ground first. There are several types of laptop batteries which I will share in this post.

Types of Laptop Batteries:

1. Alkaline - This is one of the common batteries around but only few laptops used it and the flaw about alkaline batteries is that is not rechargeable. You have to throw it once it goes flat.

2. Lead Acid - One of the most commons usage for this type is for laptop computers. It is long lasting, durable and rechargeable but unfortunately it is heavy and full of lead :P .

3. Lithium-Ion - The type of battery you would want to have for your laptop. The fast charging effect make it good for users on the go (need not wait for a long time for the battery to get charged completely). It is also environment friendly as well.

4. Nickel-Cadium - Ni-Cd batteries is one of the oldest and best performance types of rechargeable batteries but it has a major problem. After a long usage ( a few years), the battery will suffer from the dreaded memory effect. This means that the lifespan usage of the battery will deteriorate as time goes by.

5. Nickel- Metal Hydride - Ni-MH batteries is considered to be the successor of the Ni-Cd batteries but unfortunately the dreaded memory effect is as bad as well. However as compared between Ni-Cd and NiMH batteries, the latter last longer as compared to its predecessor.

The odds that you will using the Lithium-Ion batteries are 99% ( that's if you are using the new breeds of laptops :) ). Just check the abbreviation that says LION or Li-Ion on your laptop battery label. There are still a few laptops that are using Ni-MH batteries these days and you might want to check with the manufacturer whether you can do an upgrade from Ni-MH to Li-Ion. Using unapproved batteries could led to dire consequences .... so do be very careful on this. If you have a higher budget you might want to check out SMART batteries. It has a power management circuitry and it will indicate to the user what is the current condition of the battery.

Netbook Computers - The Advantages and Drawbacks of Mini Laptops

Mini laptops, or netbooks, as the technology has come to be called, are laptops that are reduced in size, lightened to promote portability, and have their battery lives lengthened as much as possible so that their users can use the netbook almost all day before having to charge the battery.

Advantages of Netbook Computers

Public transportation commuters, travelers, and students who constantly need to move around but still have their computer handy, are the target market for these devices. Most netbooks are small enough to fit inside a purse or small bag, with rounded corners and an ergonomic design to help prevent snagging. They also have an exceptionally long battery life, often over eight hours, perfect for using the laptop all day without having to find an electrical outlet to plug it in.

Netbooks provide the greatest use to people who only need the Internet and certain core software programs, like Microsoft Word and Excel. Most other program will run, but the netbook's limited processing power won't be able to work at top speed when resource-intensive programs are open.

To get the weight under a few pounds (usually less than three to four), most netbooks lack a CD or DVD drive, and have less RAM, older video cards that aren't designed to run games or visual applications like desktop publishing tools. Depending on the user, these reduced features can make them inadequate as a replacement for a traditional laptop. Many computer aficionados, however, already know this, and use the netbook for travel and a higher-end laptop or desktop PC for gaming or for running more involved software programs.

Depending on their exact screen and keyboard size, netbooks can feel very cramped during usage. Screens that are smaller than ten inches often require horizontal scrolling when viewing websites, which is annoying, and some netbook keyboards are so tiny they are difficult to type accurately on, with non-responsive keys in addition.

Overall Recommendation

If you're only going to own one type of computer, I would go with a multi-purpose laptop, so you can get portability while still be able to run all modern software programs. However, if you already have a computer and are looking for a more convenient option when on-the-go, netbooks perform admirably for niche functions like Internet browsing and word processing.

Laptop For Home Studio Recording

Using a laptop for home studio recording projects is a great idea. After trading in my big ol' desktop a few years ago I put everything onto my laptop including my music recording software. Using mainly Pro Tools and sometimes Digital Performer, but also have used Cakewalk and Cubase in the past.

What made this change-over so appealing to me was how much laptops have improved in the last couple of years. With the speed, power, and storage capacity rivaling some of the top desk top models. Throw in the portability factor and it was a no-brainer.

You can also take your home studio to another home or even pro studio and integrate your project into their set up or simply transfer your tracks. Having this option has saved me lots of time and money as well as improving on some of the quality of some tracking I wasn't able to do at home. After which, you simply pack up your laptop and go plug it back into your own home studio with all those new tracks to play around with.

Which laptop?

The choice for PC users has come down to this: Intel Core 2 Duo Pro. Luckily for us, they have started producing laptops that are truly high performance music production machines. Something About Laptop Battery Life

How to Hook Up Your Computer to Your TV

In this article, we will look at the different ways in which you can hook up your desktop, laptop, or netbook computer to your television and the reasons that you may want to do this.

Most of us have a computer at home. And, most of us have a television in our living room. For the majority of us, the television in the living room is much bigger than the monitor that we have for our computers. Many think this and ask: "Is it possible to connect my computer to my TV?"

Aside from the sheer size of your television, there are also many other reasons that people may want to connect their computers to their television sets. For example, now-a-days most people store all of their photos on their PC. Thus, what do you do if you want to show a room full of people your photos? For that matter, what do you do if you want to share your vacation videos with all of the people gathered in your living room?

You get the picture? You have a lot of data in the form of music, movies, photos, and more that would be better viewed on the LCD TV in your living room than your skimpy monitor that is attached to your computer.

So, is it possible to connect your desktop or laptop computer to your new television to accomplish all this? You bet it is and it is not that difficult. There are four ways that you can do this.

The first method is the old way and I do not recommend it. This method involves connecting an S-Video cable from your computer to your television. Old computers and older televisions often had an S-Video port on them and this was the only way to connect the two. The visual and audio output on the TV was not optimal. This inadequate solution now is not available for most people anyway as S-Videos ports are no longer a standard.

The method that will almost certainly work for everyone is a male VGA to VGA connection. The reason that this will work is that nearly all computers and all LCD TVs have this type of connection. This is the connection that I currently use and the picture is fantastic. For audio to come out of your TV or stereo, simply get a stereo mini phone jack to dual RCA jack stereo cable.

Your final two options are even better. DVI and HDMI. These are the best digital transfer mechanisms.
