5 Essential Factors To Consider When Choosing Your Laptop Skin

You will probably have seen it before. You have admired the dazzling colors and design from afar. You may not even know what it is called.

The item in question is a laptop skin. It is the one of the latest newfangled creations to present a visual feast. It is now possible to cloak your laptop in a psychedelic skin, and greatly improve your laptop's appearance. After all, since your laptop is the guardian to your working documents, your intimate email exchanges and your travel photos, it definitely deserves to get a royal treatment - it deserves a laptop skin.

Some of you may think this article is not relevant to you, since you already own a piece of laptop skin. I will recommend that you do not click the 'Back' button and skip this article, because this article will address some of the burning questions you may have about laptop skins.

So what are the factors you should consider when getting one?

LET YOUR PERSONALITY SHINE THROUGH

Your laptop skin should reflect your inner personality. You should feel unity with your desired laptop skin design. Only when you feel that a particular piece truly represents your interests or life philosophy, that is when you realize that the design is indeed suitable for you.

CHOOSE THE LAPTOP SKIN DESIGNS YOU LOVE

You may also want to look at the range of designs. Some people prefer simplicity, while others like elaborate designs with intricate details. Whatever is the case, choose the designs you love.

COMPLEMENT YOUR OUTFIT AND MOOD

It is no longer sufficient to just have a single design. It is almost a daily ritual for you - you will put in so much effort into choosing your outfit to ensure it is colour-coordinated - whether at play or at work.

Imagine that everything looks perfect. You are the epitome of good dressing. That is until you bring out your monotonic laptop with its plain black or grey look. You will be instantly reappraised in terms of your sophistication, good taste and your hip ratio. In all likelihood, all these indicators will be heading south.

You can now prevent this from happening to you. By careful selection of laptop skins, you can now match your laptop's appearance to your outfit and even your mood.

GOOD QUALITY

A good quality laptop skin should be able to last for years. In poorer quality ones, the surface layer of lamination starts to peel off after just a few months.

Another aspect of a good quality skin is that it does not leave any gooey traces when you are removing it. You will be able to remove the skin in one piece without tearing the skin and leaving unsightly sticky patches on your laptop cover.

Reusability is an important consideration, especially when you will be changing laptop skins frequently. With proper handling, you will be able to reuse the skins.

A high quality you should show the highest standards of color management. It has the same color depth as the image you see when you buy online.

PIECES FROM COLLECTION

Over time that will inevitably build your collection of laptop skins. You get the same degree of seriousness in your other hobbies in your new hobby of collecting skins laptop.

The same principles apply to all types of collections. The rarer, the more artistic, the more intricate the design is, the greater will be the value over time.

Laptops Guide: Choosing a Laptop that is Right for You

Most of us tend to think of laptops in the same way: a fairly small portable computer that can open and close like a suitcase, with all the functionality of a desktop. In fact, the term "portable" is very general, really. There are currently four main styles of these portable PCs, each something different, depending on your needs.

ultralight aircraft - also known as ultra-portable sub-notebook or laptop weighs style - and no morethan - four pounds, making them ideal for travelers. The upside of an ultralight is that it doesn't burden those who have to spend a lot of time carrying them with aching muscles, as its larger cousins often do. The downside, however, is that - in order to cut down on the size and weight - this type of laptop is so small that there's no room for a network card or internal CD drive. In order to reap the benefits of these types of "attachments," you'd have to bring an external CD drive and port replicator. Another negative in the scenario is that ultralights tend to be on the expensive end of the laptop spectrum.

Notebooks - This is basically just a regular laptop, but is slightly less heavy, weighing in at four to six pounds. While it's heavier than the smaller ultralight, it also offers more options with less fuss. Offering the flexibility of a combo bay, notebooks are designed with a large opening on the side which allows the user to plug a CD drive, floppy disk or extra battery - allowing you to access the features that you need without the burden of making room for those that aren't needed.

Standards - Commonly referred to as "regular laptops," these weigh between six and eight pounds and offer a full range of benefits. This technological pack-mule is the best buy - dollar for dollar - when you consider the cost/performance ratio. Due to their popularity, combined with their design and usability, it's not uncommon to find discounts on these from major manufacturers. Other types of laptops, which fall into more specialized categories, tend to be in the higher price ranges. The bottom line is, of the four main types of laptops, the standard is the most economical for the most reasonable amount of money.

Extra Large - Although this type of laptop doesn't yet have a technical name, it's best to simply refer to it as "extra large," since they weigh between eight and ten pounds and have a screen that measures at least 17 inches. In addition, the keyboard is much larger than a standard laptop, making it a more comfortable fit for those who find the keyboard of the standard laptop rather inhibitive. There are a couple of downfalls to owning this type of unit, not the least of which includes its weight. There can be a four pound difference between the weight of a standard and an extra large laptop - and that's quite a bit, when you think about lugging it around all Day. The other negative factor is the cost for this type of laptop. It 's a price as strong as its weight and size.

The purchase of a laptop comes down to personal preference and there are lots of styles in the laptop community to please everyone in short supply. For those who can decide and just want "a laptop", then it's probably better to keep to the standard model.

Criteria For Choosing PC Laptop Computers

In today's highly mobile world, PC Laptop Computers are increasingly becoming necessities instead of the luxuries they once were. This is especially true for businessmen, students, and professionals who want to take their information and get their communication anytime, anywhere.

However, the sheer number of brands in the market can be very bewildering to the newbie in the mobile computing world. Not all laptops are created equal. The features, both in the physical sense and in the storage capacity, cater to different markets, different needs, and different strokes. With that being said, here are the things you must remember when considering the purchase of laptop computers.

Faster Processor

Ideally, the processor must be the fastest in its segment to enable computing speeds that will keep up with your equally fast lifestyle. Most tech geeks will recommend Intel Core 2 Duo as the fastest in the market at present.

Higher Memory Capacity

Often, it is better to opt for the higher memory capacity because you will be saving yourself the trouble of upgrades, not to mention the costs, later on. Although 1GB is sufficient and 2GB is better, opt for 4GB if your budget allows it.

Again, the higher the capacity and the faster the speed of the hard disk, the better. You will need the extra space when your data (i.e., software, photos, videos, documents) increase with constant use.

Preferred Screen Size and Resolution

When it comes to the laptop computers' screens, you will have more leeway as it basically boils down to your preferences. You will be confused with tech-geek terminologies like screen resolution, passive/active screens and aspect ratio so the best thing to do is to test drive the laptops until you find one that suits your viewing needs.

Longer Battery Life

Your laptop will only be as good as its battery. Nowadays, the normal battery life is 2-3 hours although the MacBook Pro can last as long as 5 hours. Just remember that the more batteries your laptop has, the more expensive it becomes but the price will be worth it.

Wireless and Wired Mobile Connectivity

Ideally, your laptop must have mobile connectivity options in both the wireless (WiFi) and wired networks. You will have more opportunities to connect to the virtual world when you have both options, which will make your life easier especially when telecommuting.

Multi-Media Options

Nowadays, laptop computers are becoming an all-in-one entertainment-cum-business device. As such, you will need sufficient ports to plug in external devices like a mouse and printer, a memory stick and scanner, and even your digital camera must be accommodated by your laptop. And if you are a movie fan, you should consider buying a laptop with a built-in CD/DVD drive.

Physical Appearance

Fortunately, the physical Appearance of laptops today is certainly more and more fashionable. You can practically dribble, smooth and elegant, refined styling laptop covers, bags and sacks are often necessary evils. And with designs in various colors, textures and prints, you will certainly find a laptop that appeal to your sense of style!

When buying a laptop just remember these criteria and you'll eventually find your perfect>laptop.

Laptop Choosing Guide, Part 1 - Processor

Laptop major parts are: processor, memory, hard drive, video card and display screen. Now let's see what kind of which do you need for your laptop.

Part 1 -- Processor
Processor performance is determined by following parameters: number of cores, core speed, front side bus speed and amount of cache.

Number of cores. Processor with multiple cores does a way better job in multitasking than a single core one. Usual modern computer runs many tasks same time (browser, email client, antivirus, etc...), so dual core processor gives a very noticeable performance boost comparing to single core. From the other point processor with 4 cores and more is usually overkill, because current state of software does not allow using four cores to the full power. Usually dual core processor is the best in terms of performance for money.
Core speed. The more GHz processor has the faster it is. For simple tasks like browsing, checking email, watching videos, listening to music and creating documents you don't need a powerful processor. 1.7 GHz dual core is enough. If you are going to play games, encode video/music, use photo or video editors, then you need a faster processor. Depending on tasks 2.0 GHz dual core or better.
Front side bus speed. You probably have seen something like 667 MHz FSB in laptop processor specifications. Now you will know what does this mean. The more speed FSB has the faster data between processor and memory could be transferred. Faster FSB does not have such a great impact on processor performance like core speed does, but with same core speed 800 Mhz FSB processor maybe 5-10% faster than 667 MHz FSB processor. Depends on tasks a lot too.

Amount of cache. That's the amount of internal memory processor has. Like FSB speed it also does not affect processor performance that much, but still, the more the better. Typical values for modern processors are 512KB--3MB.
