Increase Your Laptop Performance - Upgrading Your Laptop

Some of us prefer laptop than a desktop computer. But, when we're on a tight budget and can't afford a new laptop, upgrading is the way to go because it's cheaper and affordable.

However, keep in mind that upgrading a laptop is limited compare to a desktop. It has limited space and some of the hardware are more expensive. With the same budget as a gaming laptop, you can get better performance desktop PC.

Below are few laptop components that you can upgrade.

1. RAM

You can upgrade your RAM to get extra performance. For example, if you have DDR2 800 MHz 2GB RAM, maybe you can upgrade it to 4GB and if your mainboard can support a higher speed RAM, consider upgrading it to a higher speed such as 1066 MHz or 1333 MHz. Upgrading to 8GB however, requires you to upgrade the operating system to 64-bit as well.

2. Hard disk

You can also upgrade your hard disk. Most of the manufacturers allow you to do this and it's easy to install into your laptop. But, consider getting an external hard disk for that extra space.

3. Operating system

Upgrading your operating system from 32-bit to 64-bit is the way to go if you want to upgrade your RAM to more than 4GB.

Other components such as graphic card, network card, LCD screen and processor might not be possible to upgrade. But some manufacturers do allow you to upgrade some of these. However, it's a tedious process and it can be costly. So, do better with a desktop PC.

Upgrading these components, however, depending on the reason for an update. If you want more speed and more of the game, you can upgrade the RAM and hard drive.
