Using a laptop for studio recording projects of the houses is an excellent idea. After trading in big 'ol office a few years ago, I had my everything on my laptop, including my recording software to download music. Use primarily Pro Tools and Digital Performer at times, but have used Cakewalk and Cubase in the past.
