Can You Play Your Nintendo Wii on a Laptop?

Lately I've seen a number of people asking whether or not they can use their laptop to play the Nintendo Wii on and then I've seen others answering that they can, whilst others answer no they can't. Hmm, which answer is right? I think clarification is needed here.

You know what it's like, you get some technological equipment and later you want to use some other technology with it only to find you need yet another piece of technological equipment! It can be such a pain can't it.

Well, I hate to say it, but in this case, that is, the Nintendo Wii being used on laptops, it is precisely that same situation we have.

In a nutshell it could be said that bottom line, if you haven't got a TV Tuner with the necessary input cables and devices you cannot hook up your Wii to your laptop.

Now, there are a few buts and if's to this which is where the confusion comes into play. Let me try and explain it plainly, though if you're new to this it may not seem plain at all.

Firstly, your bog standard VGA cable will not work here, a USB TV Tuner will work. ATI TV Wonder is excellent though fairly expensive and you may find cheaper versions on online auctions maybe.

One thing to remember, make sure that whichever you buy, it has component video hookups OR that it has Coaxial. If it only has Coaxial and not the hookups you will need an RFU Adaptor which connects your Wii directly into a coax plug.

I believe you can get RFU adaptors which actually state that they are for use with the Nintendo Wii.

Folks that really is it. I hope that clears up whether or not you can use the Nintendo Wii on your laptop.

As you can see, you can.
