From PC to Laptop to Desktop RAID

Once the very first personal computers were introduced, everyone was in shock. All of a sudden people could own a computer just as effective and robust as the massive mainframes. And these PCs were small enough that they could fit on their desk at work or even in their own home. It was really amazing at the time and some people were so in awe of this incredible technology that they were even a bit frightened. Scared that computers would someday become self-aware and take over the world.

That hasn't happened yet, at least not to my knowledge, but something else remarkable did happen - laptops. The PC was made a bit more portable in the late 1970's and early 1980's, but it was still pretty heavy and certainly not comfortable to keep on your lap. The real advancement in portability came in 1983, when the first real laptop was released - the Compaq Portable. The actual word "laptop" was first used later that same year by the creators of the Gavilan SC, a battery powered laptop. Then the low price Tandy 100, (the TRS-80 Model 100), made the exciting new laptops more widely available to the public.

Today, laptops have evolved even further into Notebooks, PowerBooks, ThinkPads, and now even the iPad. Technological advancements in the computer industry have also made available a wide range of other exciting products as well - from the iPod to the Kindle, and even Desktop RAID. Further advancements in lithium battery Technology have also made their way notebooks are used and changed. And with the rapid pace of information technology today there is certainly more to come our way soon.
